On the Ergo Store blog, we write a lot about good shop interior design and the principles that guide the retail industry in terms of designing commercial spaces. However, it is worth knowing how some less conventional, original accessories could complement a brand image.
Good interior design does not have to mean boredom and predictability. Given the nature of the brand, you can sometimes afford to use bolder forms of exposition design. Below are a few solutions that can serve as inspiration.
Marine ropes
Simplicity is the key. Ropes can be used not only by sea dogs but also by shopfitters with a fresh look at visual merchandising. Marine rope is rightly associated with strength and endurance. It can therefore be used for hanging clothes racks or single outfits and accessories, thereby reducing the number of dummies.
Perforated fibreboard
Many may associate it with solutions used by the biggest sports brands like Nike. It can cover the shop walls, support hooks, hangers or mini-shelves, which can be successfully used to display shoes and accessories. It has, however, many more applications. It is certainly worth trying.
Ladders
An unexpected but noteworthy solution if your brand has a slightly less formal character and is addressed to those customers who like to be surprised. Suspended in a horizontal position, a ladder can successfully serve as a hanger. A good quality wooden ladder works best: it will be associated with reliability. It is an inexpensive and fresh way to add personality to your brand.
Euro pallets
Pallets have gained popularity among some retailers of the clothing industry. They can be even called a ‘hipster’ solution, associated with alternative boutiques, but it’s hard to deny that they look fresh and interesting also in retail chain shops. They are also an inexpensive form of visual merchandising. It is worth a closer look!
Pipes, beams, ropes
In short: a suspended display. It is a simple but impressive way to present a range of clothing. Simply attach a beam, a girder or other elements which can be used to suspend ropes or lines for hanging clothes. Remember that the supply should be exposed at the height of the human eye, preferably against a bright (white, pastel) background. The effect will be fresh and will certainly gain the customers’ attention.
