How big your store should be?

Size matters in retail. Choosing a retail store location is just as important as the amount of space we are going to channel for trade. Before you take steps to open a shopping mall, think carefully about what area might be the best.

Pattern for optimal space

Analysis of the industry, competitors, other stores in your new shopping area – these are the steps that need to be taken in advance. How to estimate the amount of commercial space that will be optimal for your store? It is a good idea to use an equation that divides your sales volume by the sales per square meter:

Sales Volume ÷ Sales per Square Metric = Area of Commercial Space

For example, estimating that the sales volume for a year would be PLN 100,000 and the sale per square meter would bring about PLN 600, You need less than 167 square meters of commercial space. So much in theory.

Not too much, not too little

Does the application of this equation could really solve the problem of optimal size of commercial space? This certainly depends on the number of assortments that the brand plans to sell. Too few products in relation to big space will make the store look like abandoned, which can discourage customers to visit. On the other hand, too many products in a small store can create the impression of disorder and lack of comfort in movement.

Start with the place, but …

What does the sales area offer the customer? This question must be answered before signing the lease agreement. Once you find a place that you like, check out the technical requirements. Will you have a few extra square metric for a small office, magazine and toilet? These issues affect quality and comfort in your workplace.
The above mentioned issues can not be underestimated if we want our retail business to have a solid foundation. Choosing the right size of the commercial space, storage facilities, advantageous location guarantee easier start.
