Recently, we can observe a trend of using illustrations to decorate shop spaces. The illustrated details on objects of everyday use have become very popular. The designers use minimalist pictures on vases, porcelain or on carpets. Everyone knows posters with a simple illustration made of a few pencil strokes. This is a trend that has become very famous in previous years. Fashion has used such accents for a long time. How can we use this trend in stationery shops?
Signify presented the results of a study on the purchasing behavior of Poles. It turns out that every fourth customer enters a clothing store encouraged by a shop window. As many as 80% of respondents say that the purchasing experience is as important as the product itself. The storefront is an invitation to the store, so it is important to attract as many eyes as possible.
Despite the big popularity of using drawings in trade and industry, their enormous potential has not been used in stationary stores. This decorating trend doesn’t have to end only with the shop window. There were “drawn” shop interiors and even larger installations covering the entire external environment.
A shop window is a place where the drawn details can work perfectly well. There’s just so much to do. These can be illustrations referring the client to our latest collection, e.g. floral or geometric motifs. However, a specific story may turn out to be more interesting – for example, a presentation of a woman with shopping bags or a couple sitting together and having a good time. Ideas may be different, all you need is an open head and a skilled implementer of our ideas. It’s good when the pictures are dynamic, it attracts the attention of passers-by. We also like to watch people, we are curious about them, we want to learn about their history.

A procedure that will surely attract attention will be the use of a sketched decoration on the facade of the building. This is rare to see, because here we must have the consent of the owner of the facility. What if our store is located in a shopping center? Here, our creativity can go beyond the shop window and catch the entrance to the store (e.g. the floor), but also the entire external windows. When we cannot afford a larger metamorphosis to the surroundings of a stationary store, we recommend focusing on its interior.

A simple and effective way to make our stationary store more attractive is to use illustrated decorations in the main center of customer traffic. These can be small patterns – for example, a sketch of a woman or a larger span of murals. Keep in mind that decorative items shouldn’t overwhelm the collection. Their role is to emphasize its style and add charm to items on store shelves.

4. Drawn Pop-ups – promotion of a stationary store.
Recently, we have been experiencing a renaissance of the so-called pop-ups. Their main role is to interest the customer, arousing sympathy for our brand, but most of all increasing sales. A drawn pop-up is an opportunity to stand out and achieve the intended goal. Illustrated pop-ups will help to create a fairy-tale atmosphere and introduce a joyful aspect.

The trend for drawn decorations is loved by both luxury brands as well as from the fast fashion sector. It is very effective in relation to the relatively low cost, it gives designers almost unlimited opportunities. When “drawing” the shop’s decorations, it is worth paying attention that the illustrations create a coherent brand image and not disturb the display of products in the store. To create a conceptual design of the interior of the store, it is worth employing professionals who will efficiently plan our space. They will help to assess where it is worth trying to illustrate so as not to introduce unnecessary chaos.
