Aesthetics of the airport and clothing collections divided into terminals, yet without the stress associated with air travels – such unusual store interior design was proposed by the creators of The Clearport concept. The newly opened American shop offers clothing brands such as: Publish, Billionaire Boys Club, EPTM or Rothco.
Both the arrangement and the equipment of the store encourage immediate associations with the well-known space of airport terminals. The author of the interior design is Haytham Elgawly. The Clearport is nothing else, but a thematic shop, which employed elements characteristic for a given motif, enriching them with elements of modern technologies. Thanks to that combination an ordinary visit in a clothing store may become a unique experience.
The characteristic metal posts, boards specifying clothing sections modeled on boards seen on airport terminals and screens displaying “check-in” are not the only elements encouraging associations with the aesthetics of airports. The customers will definitely be surprised by the fitting rooms, which are equipped with cameras resembling the devices scanning the passengers. The clients may take photos of themselves wearing the clothes from the assortment of the store and post them in the social media. What is more, there are USB inputs (that one may use to charge a phone or other portable device) under the chairs, which look as if they were borrowed straight from the airport terminal. The creators of The Clearport concept thought even about “mile accounts” modeled on the programs which count the miles covered by the user, which may then be exchanged for gifts or air tickets. Within the framework of “The Mile High Club” program The Clearport store grants one mile for each dollar spent in the shop. When the client collects 2,500 miles, he or she receives a gift card worth 50 dollars.
Only the time will tell if such creative interior designs attract a wider group of customers. This interesting concept is undoubtedly yet another realization performed in the spirit of experiential marketing.
For those who are interested -the store is located at McGinley Square in Jersey City.

The market is moving in two seemingly contradictory, yet in practice complementary, directions: the transformation of large-scale malls into multifunctional (mixed-use) facilities and the dynamic expansion of local retail parks. What do these changes mean for the production of commercial spaces?
