Companies from the retail sector too often focus only on product quality. They do not pay enough attention to their exposure which has a direct impact on sales. What mistakes should we avoid when planning shop equipment?
1. Take care of your equipment
The first factor is taking care of the equipment, which, like every object might be worked out after some time. Even if the changes are not visible to the naked eye, it does not exempt us from making regular inspections. It applies in particular to items such as electrical installation or air conditioning.
2. Do not save money on lighting
Improper lighting is often the weak point of a store interior. Experts point out three key factors in the process of choosing the lighting. The first is the distribution of light, the second is its performance. The third is the color of the light used in the store. Properly selected light has a significant influence on how the customer perceives the product, it may even determine his desire to return to the store. Saving money on lighting can have disastrous consequences, especially if it refers to the store window.
3. Provide a space for customer
We can not forget that the place in which the transaction is expected to be finalized should call the impression in the customer that service is professional. The space should be esthetical and functional. A counter at which the client meets with staff should provide enough space to easily accommodate cash or returned products, without creating the impression of chaos. Quality, style, performance and functionality are factors which can not be separated.
4. Attract attention with ads
Poor signage is another of the most common mistakes in stores. Meanwhile, the clear visual concept can affect the customer as effectively as good salesman.Materials supporting sales (POS – ang. Point of Sale) should be attractive, legible and well arranged. It is worth to analyze how customers move around your store to better arrange the placement of advertising materials to make them asset and tool of customer support.
5. Be ready for a change
A common mistake is “rigid” shop equipment, which does not allow to refresh the interior according to changing seasons. Shop produced with the aim of later metamorphoses without additional costs of course has bigger initial investment, but it will return in the next years. So it is worth to treat shopfitting perspectively.
